The trick is to keep your Rover running properly and efficiently.

Emissions System: Ignoring that ‘Check Engine’ lamp? You’re probably throwing money away at the gas pump. It’s a sure sign your engine is not running efficiently. A simple Tune-up Kit or new Oxygen Sensors often can solve this problem.

Ignition: Worn distributor cap and rotor on an older Range Rover and Discovery can wreak havoc on fuel economy. Cheap aftermarket caps and rotors are often linked to performance problems. Spark plugs, wires and the distributor itself can be at fault and reducing power and economy to single digit MPG. Late model Discoverys are plagued by burnt and arcing ignition wires.

Cooling: If your Rover runs too hot OR too cold, your fuel economy can rapidly decline. Has your Rover had a new thermostat in the last few years? Is your radiator losing its ability to transfer heat?

Driveline: Worn wheel bearings, neglected transmissions, transfer cases and differentials can add unnecessary drag for the engine to push- the equivalent of pulling an extra load. Worn steering and alignment can cause extra drag. Tire pressure plays in important role too! Not only is correct tire pressure a safety concern, but under-inflated tires will result in a significant loss of fuel economy.
